The location w/ respect to Vatican City was excellent; wrt the other sites we wanted to see... Not so good. The breakfast also included eggs, which we did not expect in a "continental" breakfast, and the American coffee w/ warm milk was pretty good most days. We stayed 5 nites.

The evening desk clerk was very curt and not very helpful. The bed was very hard; the bed covers were frayed. The shower was very tiny, but it served its function. I do wish the European hotels would loose the bidet and enlarge the showers!! The "cooling" equipment was not workable... The hotel was at the top of a big hill, and after trekking up the hill every nite, it would have been nice to have some cool air, even vented and blown from the outside would have be acceptable. But the window had no screens, only shutters, so we couldn't even throw the windows open to cool the room.

    Fabulous

Very Compact hotel. Easy reach of Vatican.

No tea making faciities in the room. Charge for a just a cup of tea in the eveining was very expensive. Budget facilities but more expensive than budget price. If I were to recommend to a friend I would need to advise them that they are getting budget facilities for the cost of their stay. Apart from all of this we enjoyed our stay at the Alessandrino Hotel and would reccommend it to others who wanted to be near the Vatican.

    Nice and clean -new

The re is no parking at all, very small streets and top of the hill. They say they do have parking on yr page, and not true. It si at 500 mts at bottom of hill. Very nasty. You should have them correct, main reason I got this was near to vatican and has parking.

Location was great close to rail station and Vatican. The area was quite and catered for your needs. Nice view from the roof top. Room was clean and mostly tidy. The breakfast was all you could want food wise.

The showers were very small. The staff could have been a little more friendly and informative, but this seems to be a trend we are finding throughout Italy I think the Tourism Department needs a huge shake-up in Italy if they want people to come back.

    Fabulous

Good price, location close to the railway station and the bus stop, free internet, big room, good breakfast and friendly staff.

Water is drained poorly from the shower stall in the room 306

    Exceptional

Very good service. Very helpfull and usefull staff. Very quite (important for gooood nights)

The only things is that with young children we are a bit outside of any connection of public transport but all was ok as taxi are very efficient.

    Very good

The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well decorted and the hotel was in a quiet residential location. It had an attractive roof terrace with views of St Peters Basilica and an ornate local church. It is close to a train station that links to the central station and the terminus of the 64 bus that runs close to many of the main sites. This has a reputation of b eing the pickpockets bus but we had no problems using it several times during our stay.

Location was close to Vatican but quite a walk or public transport needed to get to other major sites. Had a lot of difficulty beforehand trying to find out the easiest way to get from the airport to the hotel, particularly from the central station, Termini to the hotel. Was reasonably easy to do but would have been useful if this information was available beforehand on the hotel information.

    Exceptional

Location was good, price was good, hotel was clean, staff were polite, all staff spoke at least little English.

The hotel staff could ask you for a cup of tea at least when you arrive at the hotel.

    Fabulous

Hotel Alessandrino is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood with a nice atmosphere and at walking distance from the Vatican (15 min) and the old city center (30 min).

    Fabulous

Fairness of people at the reception desk (they called pizzeria to order pizza for us). General cleanliness of the room/hotel. Hotel near Vatican (by walking).

Be carefull on Mondays; all restaurants in the neighboorhood are closed. Hopefully it was possible to eat inside the room (there is a groceries at 30 meters with nice salami, olives and italian food). Tv without french programs (except tv5). Hotel far from city center (bus or train necessary). No bus station near the hotel which is located at the end of "Monte del Gallo" street so you need to "climb" the street to arrive to "Alessandrino hotel" (nok for disabled people or with problems to walk).

    Very good

Reception staff very helpful and informative. Top Management very keen to ensure that we were taken well care of.

Breakfast hours too short, when you travel with a baby, as we did. We had to rush to complete breakfast at 9.30, when the responsible would close door and clean up.

  • 6.2
    Good

The view was nice. The personnel was really helpful. It's a typical family hotel with no surprise, neither positive, nor negative. The breakfast is ok.

It's a bit difficult regarding accessibility. Though it's close to the Vatican, it's on the top of a hill (Monte del Gallo) and it obliges you to walk quite a bit to get back to the hotel if you do not want to pay 10 to 20 € everytime you gat back to the hotel. Also no bar or relaxing area so you have to stay in your room if you want to relax, which is not always easy when you'r a family with two kids.

  • 7.8
    Fabulous

Very close proximity to the Vatican and to a major public transportation station (St. Peter's), but only for the surface train and the bus, NOT the metro. Also, there are numerous small restaurants within ten minutes walking distance - none within a few blocks, but still nearby. The breakfast was great - included scrambled eggs and bacon, which we haven't found at any European hotels yet, not even Disney hotels. The front desk has the standard tourist maps of Rome available and are very helpful at explaining directions and the use of public transportation. It is possible to view the dome of St. Peter's Basilica from the outdoor patio.

For a family suite, at the price we paid, we usually get at least two separate sleeping rooms, but in this case all of the beds were in the same room. It was pretty cramped, and no privacy. Parking is almost impossible, you just have to be there at exactly the right time. The hotel cannot help with providing any parking. Wifi/Internet is not free, it's actually fairly expensive, so we didn't use it. The walk up the hill is not for the faint of heart. It's very difficult to find this hotel by car. Late night staff do not speak English.
